How do we get to Waiheke Island?
Most guests catch the passenger ferry from downtown Auckland to Matiatia Wharf, about 40–45 minutes each way, and we meet you as you walk off.
Please wait for your itinerary before booking your ferry, so your sailing times fit the day we've planned. Already booked? Just let us know your times and we'll plan your tour around them.
We like to support our local ferry company, Island Direct, and we'll send you our partner booking link with your final itinerary.
Bringing a car? SeaLink runs the vehicle ferry from Half Moon Bay to Kennedy Point. Arriving by helicopter or plane? We can meet you at the landing pad or the airstrip. For every way to reach the far end, see how to get to Man O' War.

When you disembark from the ferry at Matiatia or Kennedy Point terminals, your guide will be waiting for you as you walk out of the terminal with your name on our welcome board.
Can you make lunch reservations for us?
Yes! We are happy to recommend places to visit and will make all reservations for you.
Please note, there may be times when it is not possible to secure a booking at one of your chosen locations, and as such does not constitute a reason for cancelling your tour.
Please Contact Us with any queries you have.
Which Waiheke restaurants have a Michelin star?
Mudbrick and Tantalus Estate were both awarded a star in the first Michelin Guide New Zealand, in 2026. We can book either for lunch on the Ultimate Freedom Tour, or for dinner after any tour.

Ferry fares, lunch, tastings (unless prepaid) and activity fees are extra.
How do I book a tour?
Booking is easy! Simply visit our website, choose your desired tour, select a date, and complete the online form. Book your tour here.
You can also contact us for assistance and we can send a sales invoice to pay directly via bank transfer or accepted payment card.
What can I expect during the tours?
You will be looked after from start to finish by our guides. They will manage everything for you. You just sit back and enjoy a fun, scenic, and informative experience!
Our tours are designed for small groups, allowing for personalised attention and a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy stunning views, local culture, exceptional locations and delicious tastings.
Are the tours suitable for children?
Yes — our tours are family-friendly and we're parents ourselves. Youth travel at a reduced rate and young children travel free; every child still takes one of the four seats. We can arrange a car seat or booster through our local hire partner, Gear Grab, for a small fee.
What should I wear & bring with me?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for walking.
Don’t forget your sunscreen and a hat! Even outside official summer months or if it's cloudy, sun protection is highly recommended in New Zealand. We have natural sunblock, spring water and spare towels if you forget to bring yours.
Any snacks or special foods, medications or anti-allergens that you may need to carry. Please inform us of any special requirements in advance.
Your camera & good vibes!
What if it's raining?
We hope for perfect weather on your tour day, but rain won't stop us - the tour proceeds regardless, and we will provide umbrellas.
In the event of extreme weather and the rare occasion that the ferry service is cancelled, we may need to cancel your tour. If that happens, we'll offer to rebook for a time that works for you, or provide a full refund.
Are your tours accessible?
We aim to share Waiheke Island's beauty with everyone. Although we operate with a medium-sized vehicle, we're committed to accommodating special needs to the best of our ability. Please get in touch with us to discuss your requirements so we can confirm if we can meet them.
Are the far-end vineyards open on Mondays?
Man O' War is closed on Mondays until November, and most far-end venues close on Mondays. We'll suggest another day, or plan a Monday around what's open.
What if someone in our group doesn't drink?
No problem. Olive oil and honey tastings, beaches, walks and great food fill the day, and tastings are pay-as-you-go, so you only pay for those tasting.
Can we book for more than four people?
Our vehicle seats four guests, so we can't take larger groups ourselves — but get in touch and we'll happily recommend a local operator who can.
Can't see your question?
Just ask — we're locals
Whether it's ferry times, a birthday surprise, a dietary need or somewhere to stay the night, we're happy to help, even if you're not booking a tour with us. Send us a message and we'll get back to you personally.
Ready to go? Pick a date and we'll take care of the rest: every reservation, all the driving and plenty of local know-how.
Planning your Waiheke day
A few local tips to help you make the most of your time on the island.
Getting here
Most visitors catch the passenger ferry from downtown Auckland to Matiatia Wharf, about 40–45 minutes each way. Fullers360 and Island Direct both run the route, and reserving seats is worth it on summer weekends. We'll be waiting as you walk out of the terminal. Heading for the far end? Our guide to getting to Man O' War covers every option, from helicopters to the direct ferry.
When to visit
Summer (December to February) is the island at its liveliest, with long days, busy beaches and cellar doors in full swing, so book tours, ferries and lunches well ahead. Autumn brings the harvest and quieter roads, and winter is calm and cosy, though some venues open on fewer days. Waiheke is lovely all year; the weather just decides whether lunch is outside or by the fire.
Choosing your tour
Short on time or visiting from a cruise ship? West-End Icons fits the island's best-known names into five easy hours. The Epic Far-End Tour heads east to Man O' War and the quieter end of the island, and the Ultimate Freedom Tour is the whole island in a full day. For something different, try the Adventure Tour or the Nature Immersion Tour. Still deciding? Compare our tours side by side.
Lunch, tastings and bookings
We make every reservation for you, from cellar-door tastings to lunch by the beach. Waiheke now has two Michelin-starred restaurants, Mudbrick and Tantalus Estate, and both book out early, so let us know as soon as you've chosen your date. Tastings are pay-as-you-go, so non-drinkers never pay for wine they don't taste.
Travelling with family
Our tours are family-friendly; we're parents ourselves. Children take one of the four seats, young ones travel free, and we can arrange a car seat or booster through our local hire partner. Beaches, olive groves and honey tastings keep younger guests happy too.
Explore more of the island
Waiheke packs a lot into a small island: around 40 km of beaches, more than 30 boutique wineries and about 100 km of walking tracks. Browse our Waiheke destinations guide to see where we can take you.
Staying the night
One day rarely feels like enough. If you're staying over, our where to stay guide lists some of our favourite places, and we'll happily plan your tour around your stay.
Good to know
Most far-end venues close on Mondays, so if the Epic Far-End Tour is on your list, choose another day or we'll plan around what's open. Our vehicle seats four guests; for bigger groups, we're happy to recommend a local operator. And pack a hat and sunscreen: even on a cloudy day, the New Zealand sun is strong.
Why a private tour?
Since 2019, we've been sharing our beloved motu — its beaches and views, its heritage and, of course, its wine — always tailored to each guest's interests. A private tour means no big coach, no fixed script and no waiting around for strangers.
It's just your group, up to four guests, in a spacious luxury SUV with 4WD. Your guide looks after the driving, the timing and every reservation, and the day bends around you: linger over lunch, add a swim at the beach, or swap a tasting for olive oil and art.
We'll have you back in time for your ferry, with a photo album of your day to take home.
Local knowledge
We live here, so we know which cellar doors are quiet on a busy Saturday when, where the best views are and which beach suits that day's weather. That local insight is what turns a good day into a great one.
Made for you
Celebrating a birthday, anniversary or proposal? Travelling with someone who doesn't drink, or with little ones in tow? Tell us, and we'll shape the day to suit. Our team is happy to help plan something special.
