West-End Icons Overview
The West-End Icons Tour is a five-hour private tour of Waiheke Island's best-known wine country, built for days when time is short. Your local guide takes you to olive oil at Allpress, a sommelier tasting at Tantalus Estate, a stroll on Onetangi Beach and lunch at Batch, then finishes with a glass at Mudbrick — back in good time for the ferry or your ship.

We keep the driving short and the stops close together, so your time goes on tasting and views, not the road. Prefer Te Motu, Stonyridge, Casita Miro or The Heke? We'll swap them in. Arriving on a cruise ship? Tell us your all-aboard time and we'll plan the day backwards from it.

Ferry to Matiatia & the Palm Beach lookout
Catch the Island Direct ferry from Pier 13 in downtown Auckland. We meet you at Matiatia Wharf, then stop at the Palm Beach lookout for your first big view over the Hauraki Gulf.
A tasting of extra virgin olive oils, mānuka honey and other Waiheke condiments among the groves — a gentle start, and a good one for non-drinkers.

A private, sommelier-presented wine tasting at one of the island's most beautiful cellar doors. Craft beer fans can head downstairs to Alibi Brewing.

A stroll on Waiheke's longest beach and a photo or two, with Aotea Great Barrier Island on the horizon.

Lunch at Batch
A good hour for lunch on the hill above Onetangi Valley, with views back to Aucland skyline and out over the Whakanepha Regional Park and the Hauraki Gulf. Add a glass of their bubbles if you like.
Mudbrick
A final tasting of Mudbrick's acclaimed wines, looking back across the Gulf to the Auckland skyline. Perfect to linger after too!

Back to Matiatia
A short drive down to the wharf, in time for the Island Direct ferry back to Auckland — or we can drop you in Oneroa village, at your accommodation — grab a spot on Mudbrick's terrace for idilic Waiheke sunset drinks.

Five hours is an easy length for families too — short drives, an unhurried lunch and plenty of snack stops. Youth travel at a reduced rate, young children travel free, and we can happily arrange car seats.
Is five hours enough on Waiheke Island?
For a first visit, yes. Three tastings, a beach stroll and lunch with a view make a full, unhurried five hours. For the far end or a long lunch, choose our six- or seven-hour tours.
Can we do this tour on a cruise stopover?
Yes. The ferry to Waiheke takes 40–45 minutes from downtown Auckland, a short walk from the cruise terminal. Tell us your all-aboard time and we'll plan the day around it.
How much does the West-End Icons Tour cost?
From NZ$499 per person, or NZ$469 each for groups of three or four. Tastings and lunch are paid separately, and the ferry isn't included.
